Patient Resources at Valley Oral Surgery in Livermore and Dublin, CA
At Valley Oral Surgery, we aim to make your experience smooth, informed, and well-supported — from your first consultation to post-operative care.

What to Expect at Your First Visit
At your first visit, our oral surgeons will review your medical history, discuss your diagnosis, and explain treatment options. Some procedures may be done the same day, while more complex cases may require a separate appointment.

Please bring the following to your first appointment
- Referral slip and any X-rays from your dentist or physician
- A list of medications you are currently taking
- Completed medical/dental insurance forms
- A parent or legal guardian if the patient is under 18 years old
If you have a medical condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or a heart condition — or if you are on anticoagulants or other significant medications — please notify our office ahead of time.

Imaging & X-Rays
If your dentist or physician has taken recent X-rays, they can be forwarded to our office in advance. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to your consultation. If additional images are needed, we can take high-resolution 3D scans in-office.
Pre- & Post-Surgical Instructions
If your treatment involves IV sedation or general anesthesia, certain preparations are essential to ensure your safety. You’ll also receive guidance for recovery following your procedure.
Before Surgery
To ensure your safety and a smooth procedure, please follow these important pre-surgery instructions carefully:
- Do not eat or drink anything for eight hours prior to surgery
- Arrange for an adult to accompany you and drive you home
- A preoperative exam and consultation are required before any sedated procedure
- Notify our office if you have medical conditions (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease) or if you are taking medications such as blood thinners
After Surgery
You’ll receive written post-operative instructions specific to your procedure, which may include:
- Guidelines for managing discomfort and swelling
- Diet recommendations (typically soft or liquid foods initially)
- Activity limitations during the healing period
- Instructions on oral hygiene and wound care
- When to return for follow-up
